Grief and Loss Support

Grief is a natural response to loss, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming and difficult to navigate alone. At Brighter Side Psychology, we provide a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where you can explore your feelings, make sense of your experiences, and move through the grieving process at your own pace.

Our psychologists support individuals experiencing a range of losses, including the death of a loved one, relationship breakdowns, health challenges, life transitions, and other significant changes that can impact emotional wellbeing.

We may draw on evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and other therapeutic strategies to help clients process difficult emotions, address trauma associated with loss, and develop healthy ways of coping.

Grief and loss support can help you:

  • Process feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, or uncertainty
  • Adjust to life after a significant loss
  • Develop healthy coping strategies
  • Manage anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
  • Address trauma related to loss or life-changing events
  • Reconnect with meaning, purpose, and hope

Everyone experiences grief differently, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Our therapists provide personalised support that respects your unique experience while helping you move forward with compassion and resilience.

Workplace Stress and Life Challenges

Life's challenges can affect your wellbeing, relationships, confidence, and ability to enjoy everyday activities. At Brighter Side Psychology, we provide evidence-based support to help individuals navigate workplace difficulties, manage the emotional impact of chronic pain, and overcome other personal challenges that may be affecting their quality of life.

Our psychologists use a range of proven therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Therapy is tailored to your individual circumstances, helping you develop practical strategies, reduce distress, and work towards meaningful goals.

Support in these areas can help you:

  • Manage workplace stress and burnout
  • Improve resilience and coping skills
  • Adjust to living with chronic pain or health conditions
  • Build confidence and emotional wellbeing
  • Navigate life transitions and personal challenges
  • Improve daily functioning and quality of life

Where appropriate, we can also provide Addiction Recovery Support, Grief and Loss Support, and Trauma Therapy to address underlying factors that may be contributing to your current difficulties.

Our goal is to help you better understand your challenges, develop effective coping strategies, and create lasting positive change that supports your overall wellbeing.

Addiction Recovery Support

Recovery from addiction can be challenging, but you do not have to face it alone. At Brighter Side Psychology, we provide compassionate, evidence-based support to help individuals overcome substance use issues and other addictive behaviours while building a healthier, more fulfilling life.

Our psychologists use proven therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma Therapy to help clients understand the underlying factors contributing to addiction, identify triggers, develop healthier coping strategies, and support long-term recovery.

Addiction recovery support can help you:

  • Understand and manage triggers and cravings
  • Develop healthier coping skills
  • Address underlying trauma and emotional challenges
  • Improve emotional wellbeing and resilience
  • Strengthen relationships and support networks
  • Build confidence in maintaining long-term recovery

We also provide Grief and Loss Support for individuals navigating significant life changes, losses, or unresolved grief that may impact their recovery journey.

Our approach is non-judgemental, supportive, and tailored to your individual circumstances. We work alongside you to create practical strategies that support lasting change and help you move towards the life you want to live.

Chronic Pain Support

Living with chronic pain can affect every aspect of life, including your physical health, emotional wellbeing, relationships, work, and ability to enjoy everyday activities. The ongoing nature of chronic pain can be exhausting and overwhelming, making it difficult to maintain the life you want to live.

Our clinicians  have experience supporting individuals living with a range of chronic health conditions, including fibromyalgia, persistent pain following injury, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

Drawing on evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), our clinicians  can help clients develop practical strategies to better manage the impact of chronic pain and improve their quality of life.

Support may focus on:

  • Adjusting to life with chronic pain or health conditions
  • Managing the emotional impact of pain
  • Developing practical coping strategies
  • Reducing the impact of pain on daily functioning
  • Building resilience and psychological flexibility
  • Reconnecting with activities, values, and goals that matter most
  • Finding meaning and purpose despite ongoing health challenges

While therapy may not remove the pain itself, it can help reduce the distress associated with it, improve day-to-day functioning, and support you in building a meaningful and fulfilling life alongside your condition.
